Makeup and Beauty

The Best Skin Care is right in front of you.....

It costs alot of time and money to really figure out what skin care really works for your skin. If you have crazy combination skin like me it can be a nightmare!  What I found works best for me is 100% natural skin care.  It suits any skin type and by natural, I mean you can find it in your fridge!

Ive tried alot of organic products before and yes they have been great as well but the quickest most visible results Ive had is through having green juice.   I stumbled across this little gem by reading Kimberly Snyders Beauty Detox Solution.  For me this wasnt about dieting, it was about making my skin look and feel healthier and to give me nutrients I could feel my body was lacking.

It's alot cheaper than buying expensive skin care and has super fast results.  In Kimberly's book she shares her recipe for her Glowing Green Smoothie, but you can really change it up and make it your own which is what I did.

Im really excited to share the results I got with you.  To understand these results, I need to tell you a little about myself.  I have very sallow, tired looking skin.  I have alot of sinus issues and am always getting allergies and colds.  At certain times of the day I would just hit my wall and feel lethargic.  Im only 41, and not really at the stage where I should be having Nana naps!!

I made a batch of this green juice, which makes about 4-5 serves(yes you can fridge it or freeze it and it will retain all nutrients), which you must drink every day.  I continued to make this juice and had it for 2 weeks straight. A big glass every morning for breakfast.

By day 3, I wasnt tired anymore and had so much more energy.  The whites of my eyes were whiter.  By day 5, I was getting compliments on how good my skin looked. Someone even said my skin doesnt look grey anymore :-/.  A really important thing for me is that I was sleeping so much better and I usually suffer from bouts of insomnia.

During this time, I started to get a tickle in my throat and I though " oh here it comes...the throat infection that keeps coming back". Well it didnt, the tickle went away, I never got a cold or any sinus issues which I normally constantly have.  Overall, I was happier.  I must admit I much prefer drinking a horrid looking juice that looks like swamp water than pop a whole bunch of dietarty supplements on  a daily basis.  For those wanting to ditch the belly, this is great as it keeps you regular and gets rid of bloating.

Due to the busyness of life, I let the juice go.  So the downward spiral began.  I was yawning all day, had no energy, my colds came back and my skin went oily!  I couldnt figure out why I was feeling so blah, then it hit me, I had been too busy to make my juice!!  Never again!!  I am so amazed at how great I felt (and looked according to some) in the space of 2 weeks!!

I recommend giving it a try for a week straight. It's an aquired taste but dont give up! Let me know how you go with it!! :-)

My Green Smoothie

Half head of Cos Lettuce
1/2 bunch of Kale(leaves only, no stalk)
1/2 bunch or small bag baby english spinach
1 small banana
1 large red apple
1 cup chopped fresh pineapple(optional, I dont normally have it)
1/2 bunch coriander
2-3 cups cold water

Blend together.  DO NOT put through a juicer.  We want to chew all that nice pulp, it's so good for us.  It's nicer chilled. If you dont want it so chewy, add more water.  Have it every day for a week and let me know how you feel.

Hygiene......it's that simple.....

I just wanted to share with you all my pet peeve when it comes to makeup.  Makeup Artists not sanitizing their product.  It's all very well to clean your brushes, but what about the product itself??

Many a time I have seen MUA's dip a perfectly clean brush into a powder or eyeshadow, but what happens when they need to double dip??  Whatever germs or bacteria that is on the clients eye is then transferred back into the pan only to be passed on to the next client.

Please look after your clients.  It is so easy and I do this between clients.  Buy some 99% rubbing alcohol or Isopropyl and put some in a small plastic spray bottle. Carry this in your kit at all times for occassions like weddings, large photoshoots etc..It literally takes 2 seconds to give your eyeshadow palettes, pressed powders and pressed powder foundations a quick spritz. Leave aside and it's dry within minutes and germ free.

You dont need to worry about loose powders or pigments as in most cases, pigment is taken out of the container usually tipped into the lid which you can wipe over and clean when finished.
